     Family Wehrfritz welcomes You to the German 'Gemütlichkeit' in Gasthof Kohlmannsgarten, a family enterprise with more than 100 years of gastronomical tradition. Already  Richard Wagner  had his accomodation there.

 

     The Franconian Switzerland (German: Fränkische Schweiz) is located in the south east of Germany or northeast of Bavaria.

      The area got it’s name because it is located in Franconia, a region of Germany and the landscape are reminiscent of the mountains of Switzerland.

      The inn 'Kohlmannsgarten' invites you to be our guests.

 

    Activities include canoeing on the river Wiesent, bicycling (canoe and bicycle can be rented in the village: aktiv-reisen), caving (binghöhle), hiking, climbing, horseback riding, visiting historic castles, ruins, fishing, miniature golf, public and village festivals, sightseeing to Bamberg, Bayreuth, and Nürnberg. There are facilities to store your bicycle or canoe.

The 'Fränkische Schweiz' is famous as a quiet place for recreation, a region with green valleys, forested slopes, steep dolomite rocks, and spectacular stalactite caves. The oldest health resort is in romantic Wiesenttal, is Muggendorf, with a population of about 700 citizens. Here at the inn Kohlmannsgarten, you will find the ideal vacation place.

 

The family has owned this grand house for 400 years.  The Wehrfritz family is delighted to bring their guests 100 years of gastronomical tradition. Our rooms combine the features of a “house with history” with the modern comforts and conveniences that visitors are seeking.

 

Enjoy the culinary pleasures of our house in the terrace of our garden below the famous “Richard-Wagner-linden-tree". As a specialty of the frankonian kitchen we serve trout, fresh from the water. Our guests appreciate our coffee and traditional home made biscuits.

 

Muggendorf is centrally located; ideal for hiking the many breath-taking scenic trails in the surrounding area climb 300 to 500 metres high.  Your hiking explorations from Muggendorf can last a half a day or a full day including visits to the various exceptional caves in the area.

 

 

Destinations like Bamberg, Nürnberg, and the Richard Wagner festival city Bayreuth can be easily reached in about one hour by car.
